Yesterday was a very important day. One of my best friends turned five and I think might be getting a little bit of grey.
I’m talking, of course, about my guide dog Xxon. I can’t believe it’s already been over three years since he showed up on my doorstep with one of the Fidelco trainers. For those of you who may not know, X showed up on the exact one year anniversary of the ambush in Afghanistan that left me completely blind and his arrival couldn’t have ben timed any better. The big guy turned five yesterday!
Most of you have probably never been able to take your dog everywhere you go. Most of you have probably never relied on a dog like I do on a daily basis. Most of you can probably imagine, but never really understand how much this old fella means to me. He isn’t just a tool and a pet. He is a member of this family and we are so blessed to have him.
For all of you who have wondered about how Xxon came into our lives and the impact he has had on us I encourage you to watch the video below. It tells about two amazing organizations that change lives and tells the story behind how Xxon and I became a team.
I’m blessed to be part of the Fidelco family and to be so close with the Newman’s Own Foundation as well. These organizations do amazing work and they’ve changed my life for the better by bringing Xxon into it.
Happy birthday pup!
