We are only two days away from the big race. The Illuminations Half kicks off Saturday at sunset. Well, guess who has been coughing since Saturday. Yeah, lucky me.
I’m crossing my fingers I’ll be back up to snuff by the weekend but either way this race is happening!
I’ve been really excited that the weather all week has been up in the 60s and even 70s once or twice. I was feeling good that at least I wasn’t going to freeze out there even if I’m nut quite working at 100%.
As of right now though, the high is supposed to be 35 degrees and it’s supposed to be rainy. Just great. As if running a half marathon in nice weather wasn’t bad enough.
The more I think about this though the more excited I am. For some reason I still find myself excited and eager to take on challenges like this. It reminds me of the old TACP days. The only difference is that I’m doing it by choice now instead of being told I have to by a supervisor (Sean), or a terrifying instructor at tech school (Brian).
The video below is the graduation video that was made for my tech school class back in 2007. It will give you a small understanding of what I’m talking about. Looks like fun right?
On a side note, the supervisor I mention above was back when I was at Riley. I had amazing hair in those days (I got called “Flock of Seagulls” once or twice) and Sean always gave me grief for it, especially when leadership made him do push ups because of it! I think he just wishes his hair looked as good! Good times!
Anyway, I was planning on taking my phone on the run and making some videos of the adventure but if it’s raining that won’t be happening. Unfortunately I’m one of those people who can’t live without a smart phone now. I’ll be sure to make someone else take some photos though so you all can see how much fun we’ll be having. Wish us luck!
Happy Thursday everyone! Thank you for reading, commenting, and sharing! God bless!
