If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time then you’re probably fond of my strange sense of humor. I just can’t help but make jokes about the ridiculous things that happen to me. Like when I accidentally grope someone wile entering an elevator, or when I wear two completely different boots out in public. Most of the good stories are back on the old blog but I am going to revisit those here and get all the new readers up to speed!
For December’s blog recommendation I am picking another blogger with a sense of humor like my own. Her name is Amy, she’s also blind, and gets around with a guide dog from Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I have to thank my wife for telling me about this blog which a friend was talking about on Facebook.
The reason I’m picking Blind Sommelier is because people in general, and sometimes even more so in the blind community, are way too sensitive. This coming from the guy who said don’t call me inspirational right.
In society these days you have to be very careful what you say to people, especially if you’re at work and your job is to interact with others. You can bet that if you ask the wrong person the wrong question, or make a comment that gets misinterpreted, you might find yourself in a lawsuit so fast your head will spin.
I’m not one of those people. I’m still a TACP at heart and a person couldn’t survive in an environment like that without very thick skin. The last thing I want to do is waste any of my life in a courtroom dealing with lawyers. I just laugh stupidity` off and go on with my day. “Sensitivity training” is ruining the world! If you’re blind then you’re blind. If you’re white then you’re white, if you’re black then you’re black. Lets stop overreacting!
Amy has a very similar sense of humor. You can get a good taste of it in one of her posts called “Sometimes Being Blind Is Just Funny” which is my personal favorite. If you read my blog then I can almost guarantee you’ll enjoy this one too.
This is the sort of writing I love. It’s lighthearted, a little edgy, and turns the daily routine into something a little more exciting!
If you like what you read over there leave her a comment and let her know I sent you! Thank you all for reading and sharing these posts!
